Bissell House
Visit the home of General Daniel Bissell in what is now the town of Bellefontaine Neighbors in north St. Louis County on this edition of You Are Here. The house has been carefully restored, to what it would have looked in the 1850's. Parks workers have carefully maintained the home and its grounds, plus added furnishings to give the house a personal touch. See the games and toys that entertained children in the 19th century. Check out Daniel Bissell's sword and military sash and his commission signed by George Washington and James Madison in this glimpse of life on the western frontier.
